The project involved the extension of Cottrill Road to the intersection of Pumicestone Road and Ardrossan Road. This project provided a signalised intersection allowing safe pedestrian crossing to the new QSP Caboolture North State School.

Cottrill Road/Pumicestone Road/Ardrossan Road was upgraded from a three-way priority controlled intersection to a four-way signalised intersection. Works included new concrete footpaths to both sides of Cottrill Road, school and Pumicestone Road, associated kerb and channel and drainage works, installation of new Rate 2 road lighting infrastructure, linemarking, signage and landscaping.

Major components to the project involved the construction of 4 cell 1800 x 1200 RCBC under the new  Cottrill Road and the extension of  3 cell 1800 x 1500 RCBC under Pumicestone Rd into a new in-ground inlet chamber. As the site was in low laying area relative to the water table, significant subgrade was replaced and a geotextile wrapped road mattress.

Construction was staged in a way to continually provided safe access for the pedestrians which included dedicated traffic controllers supervising road crossing during school drop off and pick up times.
