City of Gold Coast awarded Mcilwain the Deodar Dr Design and Construct drainage upgrade works in May 2022. The award included two separable portions, SP1 was to upgrade the main drainage chamber under the Lower Gold Coast highway in preparation for the Gold Coast Light Rail works and these works continued on to the remaining SP2 works of drainage upgrades and pavement reconstruction through Deodar drive.
Project benefits include:
Reduced flood levels
Increased stormwater capacity
Increase in underground infrastructure capacity for future Gold Coast developments including the Gold Coast light rail.
New pavement and kerb for residence and businesses
The scope of works include:
Design and construct project for drainage upgrades within local roads and state and local guidelines.
Excavations within water table and up to 5m deep.
Interface with stakeholders, Gold Coast light rail and maintaining traffic and pedestrian access at all times.
Construction of major drainage structures adjacent to businesses still operating in SP1.
Construction of major drainage structure directly outside of stakeholder houses and adjacent to live Telstra services.
1070m of RCP pipes to be procured and installed ranging from 450 to 1650 Diameter.
6000m2 of pavement reconstruction along Deodar Drive kerb to kerb and subsidiary streets.
