Construction is underway to widen two existing sections of the road west of Kilcoy. This will improve road safety by providing additional distance between vehicles travelling in opposite directions. The project will also deliver dedicated right-turn lanes at the Franks Lane and Bye Road (western end) intersections.
Project benefits:
Motorist safety has been increased with the widening of road formation and pavement; pipe jacking, upgrade drainage structures, earthworks, bitumen seal, shotcrete, soil nail, gabion works and safety barriers.
Project scope:
Widening a 4km section of the D’Aguilar Highway between west of Lord Lane at Moodlu and Wamuran township.
Installing a 1m wide centre line to reduce the potential for head-on crashes .
Improving the Franks Lane and Bye Road intersections to provide dedicated right-turn lanes.
Removing roadside vegetation to improve visibility.
Installing new signage to reinforce overtaking rules.
The upgrade of existing drainage
Widening road shoulders, extending, and replacing culverts
Installing safety barriers at key locations.
