With up to 250,000 VPD on average travelling along the Gateway & Logan Motorways, McIlwain were engaged by Transurban to replace the existing tolling gantries along both corridors in conjunction with the Noise Management Project Phase 2.

Electrical & ITS Works
McIlwain’s scope of works included: installation of concrete barriers, footings for new gantries, electrical and ITS works, while also providing principal contractor duties over Kapsch Trafficom Australia, who were engaged by Transurban to supply and install new tolling systems. All gantry lifts were conducted under live traffic with a hold and release solution for a maximum of 30 minutes to safely install the new systems. Ongoing planning and staging works were critical to the project delivery to minimise any impacts to the existing tolling system.
